Betul lah kata orang... "Penantian itu penuh penyiksaan"

hmm...

So, kat sini nak lah citer sket pasal interview yang dikendalikan oleh alumni2 Cornell University yg merupakan antara top university di US yg sgt terkenal dgn gelaran 'Ivy League'...

Thanks din paiman and laen2 sebab mengikuti perkembangan interview2 yg ku lalui...sorry la sebab agak lambat post pasal interview Cornell ni...mmg mencabar lah admission ke US nih..hik2

Kisah bermula...

Ku lihat2 jam di tangan... lah! x ingat la pulak, jam aku dah rosak..terpaksa lah keluarkan handset... pukul 3.30p.m

'awal lah pulak!!!'..aku punyer interview kul 4.20p.m...so aku pun gi lah ronda2 kat KLCC tuh...but actually misi first yg aku laksanakan ialah mencari spot yg telah dijanjikan untuk diadakan interview tersebut...kang takut ronda2 nnti x jumper lak tempat yang sepatutnyer aku gi...

STARBUCK level 3, KLCC....tidak terkejut tuk aku tgk ader seorang applicant sedang petah menjawab soklan yg dikemukakan oleh interviewees tuh...yg agak terkezut sikit ialah interviewee dier bukan sorang atau dua orang..tapi 1 + 1 + 1..bape ek???

Fortunately, biler aku di interview, ader dua orang jerh..ntah la sorang lagi pegi mane aku pun x tau..mungkin dah borink kot duk kat starbuck tuh lama2(yang interviewee pertama nama dier Mr. Chen Chow- aku de letak gambar dier kat bawah tuh kat post aku yg lepas, satu lagi Mr. Rais Imran - seorang bekas didikan Puan Fatimah under program ATU kat UNITEN nih)...

Kalu nak tgk gambar Rais yang segak bergaya nih...kat bawah ni saje2 jer la aku letak gambar dier...friendly orangnyer...rasanyer bekas pelajar SMAP...(rival KISAS nih!!! :) )

Dengar2 mmg ramai applicant yg di interview pada hari tuh..mcm interview marathon la pulak..

And mmg berbanding interview2 yang laen..yang nih paling rushing sekali...memang jelas dan ketara..sebab dier budget tuk sorang dlm 25-30 minit jerh, coz ramai applicant...so, memang nampak macam nak cepat lah..tapi ader benda yg bez pasal interview nih..nnti aku bgtau di akhir post nih..

setelah aku try to recall soklan2 dier.....

mmg ader yg menarik and mencabar la...aku amek yg bez2 jer tau...try la jawab...

1. if you can invite a speaker to Cornell, who will you invite?why?

(secara spontan...aku cakap Bill Gates, hmm x tau la pulak...aku hentam jer la..dah dier de kaitan dgn course aku and aku pernah wat assigment pasal dier)

owh dan lanjutan kepada nih...Mr Chen tuh ader promote sket bahawasanyer akan diadakan satu event called WCIT 2008 (World Congress on IT 2008) kat MAS pada bulan May nih...so, dier cakap la yg aku atau sape2 jer la boleh jadi volunteer tuh event tuh...dpt rm80 sehari!!! hehehe...top2 CEO cam Bill Gates and Michael Dell akan datang..aku mungkin join...dier ader interview..hehehe..interview lagi..huhuhu

2. I heard that Microsoft is planning to buy Yahoo!!! Google did not take this approach. What do you think about it? Is it a reasonable action?If you are the CEO, will you do so???why??

(terkezut tuk dua saat and lepas tuh aku bantai jer jawab , tapi relevan la...)

3. US will provide a hollistic education. Besides subjects pertaining to your major(Electrical and Computer Engineering), what subject would you like to take??

(aku ckp Psychology and i don't why...tiba2 spontaneous keluar dari kepala....jawab jer la...)

4. (yang nih cepu emas) - memang putar belit gak lak aku jawab soklan nih...rate you self within this 25 minutes of interview, what is your strength and weakness during this short interview??

hehehe... HA???*&^%$#...My jaw dropped...memang un'sangkarable'....hehehe...

aku kasi rate aku 7....sekali lagi, x tau la kenapa....

Then, yang bez part nyer ialah...pada jam 6 petang...dier offer kepada applicant2 tuk gi makan kat Burger King....Yummy!!!

dapatlah WHooPer for free.....satu2nyer interview yang aku dapat makanan..hehehe...sambil2 tuh kitorang chit chat la sket2...and dapat lah sket butiran pasal Cornell nih...

6 must-know details about Cornell University

1. Pointer paling tinggi boleh capai kat Cornell ialah 4.3 - bukan 4.o

2. Makanan free bersepah kat dalam campus - tapi kena check la 'halal' ker x

3. Pintu rumah and bilik x kunci sepanjang 4 tahun pun, x de barang hilang - pengalaman Mr. Chen Chow

4. De beberapa mesin pembuat aiskrim macam McD..and boleh makan aiskrim sebanyak2 nyer

5. Attendance wajib kat Cornell ialah 20% jerh..(ponteng x digalakkan)

6. Soklan exam selalunyer killer...(takutnyer...)..dier ckp kalu x pernah FAIL, kat Cornell lah masa yang sesuai untuk merasainya..dier pernah dpt 6/100 untuk subject nanotechnology - pengalaman Mr. Chen Chow..-scary huh????

Novel Melayu???

Bila terfikir atau terpandang novel2 melayu...mesti aku selalu kaitkan dengan novel cinta...Indah bahasa Melayu (or bahasa Malaysia) yang terkenal dengan lenggok-lenggok dan putar belitnya..memang sesuai sgt la digunakan untuk menbayankan kisah2 cinta....

namun, biler aku reside kat SMU (A) Maahad Muhammadi Lelaki selama tiga tahun...sempat la gak aku di 'pengaruhi' oleh kawan2 yg cakap satu novel tuh best sangat...then per lagi..kata2 ni kuar dari mulut aku...

'oh, novel cinta ek??'

then, kawan aku sorang tuh menafikannya dan menyuruh aku membaca novel tersebut..then, pe lagi, aku pun baca la...

dan tatkala bermula waktu tulah aku minat kepada karya novel Ramli Awang Mursyid, Penulis Novel Thriller No. 1 Malaysia (betul ker?) ..dier yg claim mcm tuh..tapi mmg setelah aku membaca buku2 nyer..memang aku x nafikan title tuh....

So, pe yang aku nak highlight sebenarnyer ialah buku terbarunyer Ungu Karmila....

hmm aku beli time raya cina arituh....dan sempat lah menghabiskan nyer dalam masa 2 hari (bukan baca secara terus)... Thanks rasydan sebab promote kat aku buku tuh...memang bez...menakutkan....menyeramkan..dan MENARIK!!!

What should I do??? So, spontaneously I reacted as cool as a cucumber - (cool ker cucumber nih??*&^%$)

Hati aku kuat menyatakan yg aku mmg perlu mintak maaf secepat mungkin... nway, sebab dier dah start menghujani aku dengan soklan2 cepu emas, ku terpaksa tangguhkan dulu process appologize tuh...

owh tak ingat lak nak ckp, sebelum interview tuh aku beli 'clorets mint', obviously tuh memberikan nafas yg segar, in case la sebelum tuh ader makan makanan yg boleh memberi bau yg kurang menyenangkan pd mulut... -one of the techniques to triumph in ur interview...hehehe aca jer..

{modified version}- mane la aku igt sangat time tgh nervious..tapi 'giest' dier lebih kurang camni la.

Ammar: Hi Ms. teh, nice to meet you.

Ms. Teh: Wanna drink first, you might want a cup of coffee or tea.

Ammar: No thanks. (trying to be gentle...hehehe padahal sedap gak kalu bley minum tea time tuh)

Ms. Teh: Sure???

Ammar: Yeah,coz I have just taken some bread and drinks previously.

Ms. Teh: So, i think we can start our interview now.. {She introduced herself} My name is Ms. Teh Geok Lian and I had graduated from Yale - so many years ago. I am now one of the alumnus of Yale University and have had a lot of experience in conducting interviews for applicants who are really interested in applying to Yale...

Okay Mr. Ahmad, (she called me by my last name or the US called it the Sir name)...actually where do you study right now and what kind of program are you in?

Ammar: Oh, I'm enrolling in a special 1-year program called the ATU - American Top Universities ...{bla..bla..bla}

So, tuk meringkas kan...dier de la suruh aku describe diri aku..mcm 'how do you perceive yourself or how do you describe yourself or how do you see yourself as a person, are you a hardworking student, are you the kind of person who has a balance life, are you a well-rounded person...'

Aku pun cakap la mcm aku nih seorang yg holistic and well-rounded based on the fact that even though I excelled in my exams, but aku participated gak dlm extra-curricular activities ngn possessed leadership qualities..aku ader la gak terangkan pasal pertandingan robotics yg aku masuk and experience aku serta mcm mane aku mengatasi conflict dalam kumpulan..something like that lah...

And der satu soklan tuh dier tanya..'what is the thing that you considered the highest achievement during your high school/secondary school???' ( try jawab..senang jer kan)

Anyway, x larat aku nak menaip semua soklan2 dier..mmg byk gak la...

So, after a while tibe giliran aku lak tuk interview dier..hehehe..aca jer..the next half hour aku diberi peluang tuk tanya soklan2 pasal Yale...byk gak lah soklan2 yg aku bombard kat dier mcm 'how's the level of competition there???' and sebagainyer..soal punyer soal..last2 dah sejam dah masa berlalu..so, aku rasa dier pun dah de keje nak wat..or mungkin dier nak pegi makan lunch..So,

Ms. Teh: Is there anymore questions that you would like to ask....???

Ammar: Oh no, I think the anwers given are sufficient already.

Ammar: [tiba lah masanyer] ....Ms. Teh,I am really sorry. I would like to appologize for addressing you wrongly in the emails that I have sent you...

Ms. Teh: Oh, it's okay. Quite a lot of people addressed me that way..

Ammar: hmm...{ah, lega....nasib baik dier x marah - tapi mungkin dier saje jer ckp yg ramai org address dier mcm tuh- papepun alhamdulillah aku telah dimaafkan}

Macam tu lah lebih kurang flow dier..lepas tuh aku cepat2 bergegas ke KTM serdang tuk gi UNITEN sebab aku de kelas pukul 4 ptg...pagi tuh terpaksa lah ponteng satu kelas...arini pulak kul 4.20 petang bertempat di KLCC..aku akan ader interview tuk Cornell University pulak..one of the top universities...nama interviewer dier Mr Chen Chow- and I'm totally sure yg dier nih 'Mr' ....nak aku prove???...nih biodata dier...
